Day of the Dead: Bloodline

"Day of the Dead: Bloodline" (2018, Hèctor Hernández Vicens, Saban Capital Group, Campbell Grobman Films, Millennium Films, Lionsgate Films) is the second remake of George A. Romero's famous classic.

We follow Zoe Parker (Sophie Skelton), a medical student who has survived the zombie apocalypse and is now dwelling with military personnel and another few survivors in a bunker as, like in the original film and the 2008 remake, they are attempting to find a cure for zombie-ism.

A pretty lacklustre attempt that manages to take the familiar story of the original and lose all of the soul and message behind it. Reduced to being a fairly standard zombie flick.

While Bub (Sherman Howard) looks pretty spot on, stylistically, they chose to make him a bit more monstrous than Romero's Bub and a little less likeable.

In a time when we are overrun with zombie movie choices, I wouldn't be in a hurry to watch this one again.
